FileVer shows the VS_FIXEDFILEINFO for a given file (e.g. comctl32.ocx 5.01.4319). It can be used in batchmode to copy a more recent file over an old file silently:

filever S:\INSTALL\comctl32.ocx  %SystemRoot%\System32\comctl32.ocx /copy
